Francis P. Arena, MD, FACP is a product of one of the most renowned cancer centers in the world, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He brings to Long Island a level of expertise and training that is unsurpassed in his field. It was Dr. Arena’s mission to create a Long Island based office that would offer a continuum of the level of cancer treatment, which he practiced at Sloan-Kettering. 

Dr. Arena was the founder and owner of Arena Oncology Associates, P.C. in Lake Success, NY. On April 1, 2012, the practice joined the Faculty Group Practice (FGP) at NYU Langone Medical Center. Their name is now NYU Langone Arena Oncology. 

Dr. Arena is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Fordham University and his Medical Degree from Cornell University Medical College. His internship and residency were carried out at New York Hospital/Memorial Hospital, after which Dr. Arena served as Chief Medical Resident and later as Hematology/Oncology Fellow at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Today Dr. Arena is Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at New York University and Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Cornell University Medical College. He holds appointments at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, North Shore University Hospital in Glen Cove and Long Island Jewish Medical Center.  Because of his keen interest in cancer research, Dr. Arena helped establish the SASS Foundation for Medical Research, which supports medical fellowships at a number of hospitals throughout the United States. He is on the Advisory Board of "1 in 9", the Breast Cancer Coalition, and serves as a consultant for numerous pharmaceutical companies.

Dr. Arena is widely published and has lectured extensively in his field. He is an Assistant Editor of the journal Oncology and previously on the Editorial Board of the Community Oncology Journal.  Dr. Arena has been the recipient of multiple awards including the David Award, the Lean on Me Foundation award, the Il Leone de San Marco award, and the Aronow Award of the Melanoma Research.  Dr. Arena has been listed in Castle Connelly Magazine and Newsday ”Best Doctor” in Long Island on a regular basis most recently in 2011.  He has co-authored with Dr. Tanya Bastianich-Manuali, Reflections of the Breast, a book on the Art and Science of breast cancer.   Frank lives with his wife and wonderful children in Long Island, NY.
